The health of your hair is significantly influenced by your lifestyle! Whether you realized it or not, the main part of hair care does not begin in the bathroom, but in the kitchen. Right eating habits mean a stronger body, which shows from the inside out. Consumption of the right foods can bring your hair strength, shine and health.
DO NOT not forget about proper fluid intake also.
Good hydration is very important for hair, since water content makes up about 12% of the whole weight of your hair. If your hair lacks enough hydration, it appears dry and brittle and no products can change it fast. It is recommended to drink pure water, tea (unsweetened) and various fruit or vegetable juices, at least 1.5 liter per day, depending on the weather and your physical activity.
Which food should you choose?
Salmon
A very good choice for a strong and healthy hair is salmon. Salmon is rich in proteins, vitamin B12, D and omega-3 fatty acids, which cannot be produced by the human body itself, so it is very important to ensure their sufficient intake. These acids are essential to promote a healthy scalp! If your body doesn’t have enough of these vitamins, your skin will get dry and have an unhealthy look. In case you are not a big fan of fish meat, you can try some other foods rich in fatty acids (for example: walnuts or avocados). Avocados, due to the high content of vitamins B and E promote hair growth, moisturize and keep the scalp healthy. Vitamin E protects the hair from excessive drying and chemical damage.
Chickpea
Chickpea has a beneficial effect on the human body. Its unique composition helps to prevent aging. It supports cell renewal and regeneration in general, and this all reflects, of course also on the hair.
Tomatoes
Tomatoes have quite high content of Lycopene, an antioxidant substance which protects body cells against free radicals. In addition it also helps to produce collagen and elastin, which keeps hair strong, healthy and flexible.
Blueberries
When talking about hair quality and protection, blueberries should not be left behind. They are known as an important source of antioxidants.
And lastly
You can find also many recipes, where food is not consumed, but directly applied on the hair. If you suffer of oily hair, you can choose lemon instead of shampoo. Lemon juice has an antiseptic effect and controls sebum production. Just lightly massage the extract of two lemons on the scalp and leave it on for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes rinse off with cold water.
