Looking for the best hair dryer for fine hair? we’ll help you with that. Fine hair is more difficult to look after than normal hair, and accordingly, it’s weak and it can break easily.

Features to consider in the best hair dryer for fine hair
- Heat
The number one concern will be temperature control. Avoid setting your blow-dryer to high heat when you don’t have to. Medium heat will always do the trick to get fine hair (or fine straight hair) dried.
- Infra-red
Infrared dryers are interesting for fine hair, too. From all the info we gathered, these kind of hair dryers use heat in a laser-like way to dry the hair from the inside out. I can’t speak for long term just yet, but I can say that the infrared feature does make the hair dry very quickly without “cooking” it.
- Ceramic
You can also opt for a ceramic hair dryer that ensures even heat distribution over the entire hair, with a power range from 600 Watts and 2200 Watts.

- Ionic
Also, the ionic function helps block the development of static that has a tendency to flatten the hair. Note that the best hair dryer for fine hair should, if possible, feature a negative Ion generator that can be set to position “off” to avoid having dead-beat hair.
We’ve looked at every review given by people who have actually bought one of the hair dryers below and organized their reviews in simple bullet points.
Here’s a collection of the best hair dryers for fine in 2014, 2015 and 2016
Important note!!!
Before you read the reviews, did you know that hard hat hair dryers are much gentler on fine hair than handheld hair dryers? They distribute the heat evenly and do not cause heat damage. Also, they are great for those who love multitasking while their hair is being dried (checking emails, working on computer, doing make-up or nails …).

Everyday Haircare Routine & Fine Hair Tips!
Techniques
Even if you purchase the best hair dryer for fine hair out there you still have to follow some instructions. Set your hair dryer to medium heat and speed, without using a concentrator nozzle, then by the end of the process use the cool shot button.
It’s advisable that you stimulate the roots in order to condition your hair. You can do that with the help of your finger tips or with "a spider-like brush" or even with a large round brush.
You can also dry your hair head-down and then apply some hairspray under the heat of the hair dryer to lock the style into place.
Using rollers is also a good idea to get more volume … for those ladies who have some time to devote to styling.
Backcombing
Backcombing is a sure-fire way to “inflate” flat hair. This technique consists of lifting up the hair section by section to comb the hair using a backcombing comb, towards the scalp.
We take the opportunity to spray hairspray right onto the roots. We emphasize using an extra-firm hairspray. All that remains to do is straightening your hair top down to hide the backcombed hair.

Best Hair Dryer For Fine Hair
I’ve wasted a small fortune researching and trying out every product on the market with inconsistent/bad results. Whether you have difficult hair like me or born with great hair, check out this site before you buy again. Lots of hair care type/product information, plus locates the best price for you.
Thanks for your valuable comment Felicia. We’re glad we provided you with some good quality content.
‘The perfect hair dryer for fine hair has to feature a negative ion generator that can be set to position “off” to avoid having dead-beat hair.’
Why only post hairdryers with ionic generators if it doesn’t suit fine hair?.. Or do all hairdryers have this function nowadays? Thanks.
Hi Jane. Thanks for your comment. This is a nice comment. We do need a negative ion generator but we nedd our hair dryer to be able to turn it off any time wee feel we’ve got enough of those ions. The majority of hair dryers nowadays feature negative ions option but not all of them have the possibility to turn it off.
Does the Conair Infiniti i Series have an ion on-off switch? Does the Babyliss Tourmaline Titanium 3000 have an ion on-off switch?
Both models don’t feature the ion on-off option
Mine does, it is a Salon Series Ultralight Professional Ionic hair dryer and it also has a cool shot switch.
Karmin makes the best in my opinion
I agree with you mine is the Salon Series Ultralight Professional Ionic hair dryer, which one is yours?
Hi Marisa,
Do either the Babyliss Carerra or the Turbo 1500 come with ion on/off switches? I want the option of not using the ions. Also, if I go with s purely ceramic dryer, what do u think of the Babyliss pro ceramix extreme or the Elchim Milano? Thanks much! 🙂 -Leslie
Hi Leslie,
Unfortunately both models don’t have that option, but Onei MK-II Air Ionique Hair Dryer with Ionic Generator is one of the fewest that features it, and it’s on the list of hair dryers for fine hair. As for ceramic technology, I think the Ceramix does a pretty good job and it’s $100 cheaper than the Milano. 🙂
I personally love my Karmin
Do you use Karmin for fine hair?
My Favorite is Karmin 🙂
What about Karmin?
You do not want to use too much product if you have thin hair as it can add weight,” he told us. Blow-dry your hair upside down until it’s 75% dry to increase lift. A trick I really like is to mist a little hairspray at the root of the crown as I blow it out. Shielo make GREAT products for Volume, and they do not add weight. The hair spray I use is the Shielo Flexible Design Hairspray – which is part of their Volume collection.
Karmin is my preference!
Aw, this was an extremely good post. Finding the time and actual effort to produce a top notch article… but what can I say… I
procrastinate a lot and never seem to get anything done.
